2008 Fundraising Overview

Event 4: Tequila Night Club (Saturday 6 September)

On Saturday 6 September the Calgary Kookaburras and their entourage started their night off at Tequila Night Club (http://www.tequilanightclub.com/) for their fourth fundraising event of the year. A huge thank you goes out to Elise Botero for organising the entire night and Tequila Night Club for holding the event on for us. We managed to raise over $700 for the club and this once again gets us even closer to our $10k fundraising target for this year!

Event 3: Trivia Night & Silent Auction at Bottlescrew Bill's (Friday 22 August)

On Friday, August 22nd, the Kookaburras held our first annual Trivia Night and Silent Auction at Bottlescrew Bill's Pub Downtown. Hosted by X92.9 morning show DJ Roger Kingkade, the event was a well-organized riot of amusing questions and challenges covering topics from geography and general knowledge to the Kookaburras and building world landmarks out of play-dough. With over a hundred guests in attendance, including club sponsors Richmond Hill Wines and Runge Mining, the event was a huge success and raised $1,500 for the club. A big thank-you goes out to everybody who donated items to the silent auction, and to Beck "VB" Jones for organizing the successful night.

Event 2: Pub Night & Kooka Auction at Loco Lous (Friday 15 August)

Last Friday night the majority of Kookaburra members went a little out of their comfort zone an auctioned off one of their services to help raise money for our 2008 Fundraising Challenge. All in all the event was a huge success. From our ticket sales, we had 61 people turn up to the event and 27 items up for bid. The services (http://calgary-kookaburras-events.blogspot.com/) were valued between $10 - $300. So between the ticket sales, the 50/50 and the auctioned services the club raised $3622!

A huge thankyou is extended to Ciara Lanigan who organised and managed the entire night. Becky Swan and Beck Jones also assisted in the organisation and Jake Anson MC'd the auction. We'd also like to thank all the Kookaburra players who auctioned off their time or expertise as the event would not have been anywhere near as successful if you were not apart of it. The Kookaburras would also like to pass on their thanks to Loco Lous who provided the facilities, a finger buffet, and a Big Rock beer to all the ticket purchasers. Congratulations Kookas, our $10,000 fundraising target for 2008 is looking more and more achievable.

Event 1: BBQ at Wal-Mart (Saturday 19 July)

Thanks to all the girls who were able to make it down for our first fundraising event of 2008. Over all the day was a great success at Wal-Mart (Bow Trail & 37 Street) with girls in the team each taking a 2hr roster to sell burgers in an effort to knock some money off our fundraising target for this year. There's still a long way to go before Nationals, but at least it's a start! A big thankyou is also extended to Keith and Carol from Wal-Mart who helped us make it all happen!
